Located in the emblematic Rambla of Barcelona since 1874, the Gran Teatre del Liceo stands, being a world reference as an opera theater. After its last major fire, in 1994 it underwent a remodelling and expansion to create state-of-the-art facilities.
Given the high technical demands required by the client, Frapont has developed, manufactured, tested, and installed acoustic and fire-resistant doors with high performances and special features for this project. As in the rest of the works, the refurbishment of the balconies and manufacturing of the new joinery elements with special finishes such as gold leaf, we have based ourselves on the classic original design of the Liceo, following the instructions of the decorators.
Frapont has also manufactured, and installed curved handrails, partition screens, false ceilings and cladding in a large part of the common areas, as well as the reception desks, fixed furniture for the premises of the Liceo itself and the bar.
Within the stage area, enlarged after the fire, we installed the removable timber flooring that can adapt to the different configuration of the stage and the orchestra pit, following the high technical requirements requested by the set designers.
Frapont is proud to participate in this reconstruction work not only because of the technical complexity and the high number of elements developed, but also for actively contributing to the reconstruction of a symbol of the city of Barcelona.
